The problem
Why most outdoor strip lighting fails in Australia.
IP65/66 is not enough.
Most imported strip lighting is rated IP65 or IP66 — dust and splash resistant. That's adequate indoors. Outdoors in Australia, it isn't. Water finds its way in through connector joints, end caps, and micro-cracks in the silicone sleeve. IP65/66 fails in conditions that IP68 handles without issue.
UV and heat degrade standard silicone.
Australian summer UV intensity is among the highest in the world. Standard silicone sleeves yellow, crack, and allow moisture ingress within 18–24 months. The failure isn't the LEDs — it's the housing that was never rated for the exposure.
Connector corrosion is the silent killer.
Coastal properties add salt air to the equation. Unprotected connectors corrode at the contact points. Voltage drops. Sections go dark. The strip looks fine — the connectors aren't. IP68 end-to-end means sealed from the driver to the terminal.
Duskline is IP68 — end to end.
Dust-tight, submersion-rated to 1.5m for 30 minutes. Every component in the system — strip, connectors, end caps — carries the same rating. Not just the strip itself. That's what proper outdoor-rated means.
The mounting system
Straight lines are easy. Curves are the hard part.
Any strip lights up fine in a straight run. The hard part — the part most products get wrong — is a curve that still looks intentional five years in.
Rigid Channel
- Aluminium channel with click-in strip mounting.
- For pergola beams, benchtops and straight garden edges — anywhere the line doesn't need to bend.
- Zero flex, zero risk of the strip sagging or pulling loose over time.
Flexible Segmented Track
This is the part that actually matters. Most “flexible” strip lighting just relies on the silicone sleeve bending — no structure, no consistent radius. It shows: uneven light spacing at the bend, visible strain points, and a strip that slowly works itself loose from whatever clip was holding it.
- Segmented specifically to bend into a clean, consistent radius — garden paths, pool edges, curved pergola lines.
- The strip clicks directly into the track. Mechanically secured, not resting in a channel and hoping.
- Same strip, same connectors, same IP68 rating end to end as the rigid channel.
Horizontal bend only. This isn't a garden hose — it won't loop vertically, and we won't tell you it does.
Pick your mounting system based on the geometry of your space, not the limitations of the product. Straight run: rigid channel. Curve: segmented track. Both take the same strip, same connectors, same IP68 rating end to end.
Pre-specced kits
Choose your application.
Each kit is configured for its application — strip, driver, and dimmer matched and pre-specced. No separate component selection required. A range of colour options is available — just tell us what you're after when you enquire.
Pathway Kit
Garden edges, walkways, water features
Designed for ground-level and near-ground applications. Fully flexible strip with horizontal-bend capability. Pairs with an RCM-compliant 24V driver and 0–10V dimmer.
Pergola Kit
Overhead structural runs, BBQ and alfresco zones
Built for overhead installation in structural channels. High-output 24V strip with consistent colour temperature. Suitable for spans up to 10m per run from a single driver.
Pool & Water Feature Kit
Fully submersible runs
Our most demanding application. IP68 submersion-rated for permanent water contact. For pool edges, water features, and submerged elements. Sealed to 1.5m/30min per EN60529.
For electrical work near water, all installation must be performed by a licensed electrician per AS/NZS 3000.
Custom Zone Kit
Larger or multi-zone properties
Multiple zones, extended runs, or architectural applications that need a spec conversation before quoting. Tell us about your space and we'll come back with a detailed breakdown.
Pricing is enquiry-only — no pricing is displayed on this site. All products are made to order; typical lead time is 20 business days from order confirmation. Duskline supplies the system only; installation is arranged separately by you or your electrician.

Tell us about your space — which kit you're interested in, the approximate scope, and your location. Use the form below. We respond within 1–2 business days with pricing and a confirmed lead time.
We confirm spec, pricing, and lead time
Once we understand the scope, we'll confirm the exact specification, quote a price, and lock in lead time. No vague estimates. You'll know exactly what you're ordering before you commit.
Made to order. Shipped to you.
Your order is manufactured to spec and dispatched direct to you. Current lead time is 20 business days from order confirmation — not from enquiry. We'll keep you updated through the process. Duskline supplies the system; your electrician handles installation.
20 business day lead time — set the right expectation from the start.
This is a made-to-order product. We don't hold stock. The lead time runs from confirmed order — not from first enquiry. If your project has a hard deadline, tell us in your enquiry and we'll factor it into the conversation. Duskline is supply-only; we don't offer installation services.
Dust-tight. Submersion-rated.
IP68 is the highest standard ingress protection rating defined under IEC 60529. It means completely dust-tight and rated for continuous submersion — in our case, 1.5m depth for 30 minutes. Not splash-resistant. Submersion-rated. The difference matters when a garden irrigation system floods the installation zone or a pool edge takes splash loading daily.
Smooth, flicker-free. Professional-grade.
0–10V is an analogue dimming protocol used in commercial and architectural lighting. It delivers smooth, linear dimming from 0% to 100% without PWM flicker — the high-frequency on/off switching that causes eye strain and shows up on camera. Cheap PWM dimmers flicker at 1,000–20,000Hz. You may not see it directly. Your camera will. And some people can feel it. 0–10V eliminates the problem entirely.
Australian regulatory compliance.
RCM (Regulatory Compliance Mark) is the current Australian and New Zealand mark for electrical equipment compliance. It replaced the old 'SAA' mark. Products entering the Australian market are required to bear the RCM mark if they're electrical goods. Some importers still reference SAA certification — that designation was retired in 2016. Duskline components carry current RCM compliance.
From the trade

More from the trade.
What trade customers say once the job's signed off.
“Sealed connectors that actually seal. Ran a length under pool coping, no dramas six months on. Doesn't drop out mid-run like the cheap stuff I used to buy.”
